One popular tale dates back to the 1960s in Glasgow, where an Indian restaurant received an unusual request. A customer asked for a milder, creamier sauce to accompany his Tandoori Chicken Tikka—something to make it more succulent. The chef whipped up a rich tomato-based sauce with spices, and the result was such a hit that the customer kept coming back, bringing along friends and family. And just like that, the now-famous Chicken Tikka Masala was born.
