Brass is not as hard as glass and does not have a rough surface, so the car does not scratch the glass . Hardness minerals is described with the aid of Mohs scale (the higher, the harder mineral). Brass in this scale has a value of 5.0 - 5.5 while for glass is 6.0 - 7.0.
