Red Jasper is a gorgeous crystal in a deep rust-red colour. There are sometimes clear inclusions. 

It forms through the disposition of silica-rich minerals in a sedimentary environment. It can also form through Volcanic activity.

The presence of iron is what gives this crystal its rich red colour. 

In Ancient Egypt, is was used as a talisman to protect against evil spirits. It was known as the 'dragon slayer' in the Middle Ages.
