Black Garnet is a very rare variety of Garnet that is a luscious, opaque and jet black in colour. Black Garnet is a variety of Andradite; which is a member of the Garnet family. The gemstones on the rock are naturally faceted. 

The colours comes from the content of iron and titanium in the structure. They form when shale rock is subjected to extreme heat and pressure.
