var. Amara is commonly known as Seville orange, Bitter orange, or Bigarade orange. Mainly found in India and neighbouring countries, it is now spread all over the world. This evergreen tree with shiny and overgrown leaves can grow up to 3-9 metres in height. It has white, fleshy, sharp orange-scented flowers and dark green tiny fruits which become yellow as they ripen. The use of its white flowers in Chinese weddings as a symbol of love and purity can be traced back to ancient China.
In the 17th century, Marie-Anne de la Tremoille, the princess of Nerola, Italy used Bitter orange oil in her bath and as a perfume in the clothing of her kids. Hence, the name ‘ Neroli’ originated. In Chinese traditions.

Ecodrop’s Neroli Essential oil is obtained from low-pressure steam distillation of Bitter orange blossoms. To ensure top quality of oil, Ecodrop harvests orange blossoms manually on warm sunny days when flowers are just opened, between the months of April and May. To preserve intact freshness, flowers are processed straight away after cultivation with strict guidelines because its petals quickly lose the fragrance. It takes around 10 kg of Bitter orange blossoms to yield 10 ml of Ecodrop’sNeroli essential oil.
