, commonly known as Atlas Cedarwood or the Moroccan Cedarwood, is a coniferous evergreen tree native to Morocco and Algeria. This magnificent cedar tree, usually 30-40 metres in height, naturally grows at an elevation of 1300-1600 metres above the sea level and requires full sun. Once fully grown, it is tolerant of drought and hot climatic conditions.

In Europe and the Mediterranean region, Atlas cedar is widely cultivated for ornamental purposes and for afforestation. The essential oil derived from the bark of this tree has a long history of use in medicine, beauty, soap making, perfumery, and as an insect repellent. In ancient Egypt, it was employed in the mummification process. Native American tribes used it to cure digestive disorders and breathing difficulties.
