Sacre Coeur Paris At Night
Being the highest point in the city may have had some bearing to why it was so numbingly cold and why when faced with hyperthermia I can work at electrifying pace !
Sacre Coeur Paris At Night
Many years ago, I was shortlisted for a major car shoot being produced by a well-known advertising agency in Paris. My agent called from London, saying I needed to get to France for a meeting the following week.
A good friend came along, and we planned to spend a few extra days sightseeing and capturing some images.
The meeting didn’t go as well as I had hoped, and my gut feeling about not being shortlisted further proved correct. However, I was still glad to have a few days in Paris, making the trip worthwhile.
Despite it being November, the weather was mostly sunny, allowing me to shoot from dawn to dusk. One evening, on a bitterly cold night in Montmartre, I captured this image of the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Paris, also known as Sacré-Cœur Basilica. This Roman Catholic church sits atop the highest point in the city, renowned for its artistic ambiance.
Montmartre is a picturesque area, so my friend and I decided to enjoy an evening meal here and let me capture some night shots. This was the first image of the evening. I quickly noticed that the illuminated pedestrian crossing led the eye nicely up to the church. After several minutes of setting up and shooting, I managed to capture the scene.
Being at the highest point in Paris certainly contributed to the freezing temperatures. Faced with near-hypothermia, I worked at an electrifying pace to get the perfect shot!
This image perfectly encapsulates the charm of Paris at night. It’s a beautiful addition to any collection ofEuropean Cities Wall ArtorBeautiful Scenery Posters.
