These boards measure approximately 0.5 inches thick and are commonly referred to as drum boards. They are a more heavy-duty board than regular 3mm or 4mm thick ones and are designed to be able to carry heavier cakes, such as fruit cakes, and multi-tiered wedding cakes.
Our Standard collection is perfect for those of you working on lighter or less elaborate cakes. The boards themselves are more lightweight than our Premium Boards. They look great, perfect for a smaller scale cakey masterpiece, while still offering excellent stability!
Cake boards can come in a variety of sizes, shapes, and even thicknesses, meaning there is a cake board out there for your cake. Please note, sizes are approximate and may vary slightly.
Drum boards that are two inches bigger than the largest tier are generally used with a cake. For example, if you are baking a 12-inch cake, you will need a 14-inch drum board.
These cake boards are made from compressed wood and covered with a food-safe silver foil, which lets cakes be placed upon this, without it touching the wood.
Please note, the odd-sized cake boards are approximately 1/4" smaller than the stated size.
