Parris Islandis an heirloom Cos type from the USA. A very popular, medium/large sized green Cos with resistance to bolting.
Sowunder cover Feb-March.
Sow direct from April after danger of frost has passed.
Sow seed thinly 1cm(½ in) deep in drills 30cm(12 in) apart. Ideal temp. 4-16°C.
When seedlings are 2cm tall thin to 15-20cm. Can sow under cover in autumn for overwintering. Successional sow at 14 day intervals.
Can be harvested at the leafy stage, or left to mature until the hearts form.
