Another lovely fabric in stock at Minerva, this Satin, Crepe is ideal for dressmaking. This beautiful polyester crepe fabric has a matte crepe finish on one side and a shiny satin finish on the other. Use either side in your sewing projects, or a combination of both. This is a medium weight fabric which is soft and drapey. All fabric is cut from the roll and available to order by the metre. Satin is a weave with a shiny surface on one side and a duller finish on the other, ranging from subtle to high gloss. Lightweight satins like charmeuse drape softly, while heavier types like duchess and mikado provide structure. Crepe-back satin is reversible, combining a glossy satin side with a textured crepe side for striking contrasts. Crepe fabrics, once made from silk, are now commonly made from polyester, viscose, or synthetics.
This is a lovely medium weight fabric ideal for dressmaking. This fabric is available in a great variety of colours and weighs approximately 200 grams per square metre.
For all fabrics we advise washing before making up in the same manner as you would with subsequent washes (including drying methods) to remove any shrinkage
