Product description
These activated carbon charcoal sachets are designed for all home countertop water distillers, fitting inside the nozzle to purify and improve water taste. Made from coconut shell activated carbon, they effectively remove volatile organic compounds (VOCs) such as chlorine/chloramines but also some pharmaceuticals, pesticides (atrazine, glyphosphate + more), trihalomethanes (THMs) & byproducts of chlorinated water disinfection (chloramines).
Essentially, carbon sachets remove any VOC that the water distillation process cannot entirely remove—as these compounds have a lower boiling point than water, allowing them to evaporate and re-condense with the 'purified' water.
Currently, the majority (if not all...) of carbon sachets being sold for water distillation use non-woven fabric (most commonly made from polypropylene (PP), polyester (PET), nylon (polyamide), polyethylene (PE), or polyvinyl chloride (PVC))—which ironically defeats the purpose of distilling your water. It’s distilled, and then that hot water flows through activated carbon wrapped in plastic and is recontaminated… Our carbon sachets are packaged in 100% unbleached cotton.
