Also known as the Californian Lilac, thyrsiflorus repens is one of the hardiest and easiest to grow of the ceanothus family. It has a naturally compact habit, and it has been trained onto a trellis making it perfect for growing in a pot if you have limited space. It will look wonderful against a wall or fence where it will climb to 1.5m (5ft) if left unchecked. All it needs is a trim after flowering and again in late summer to keep it in shape.
The pale blue flowers look amazing against the dark, glossy evergreen foliage and form a spectacular cloud of colour during May and June and will attract a host of butterflies and other pollinators into your garden, making it invaluable for supporting our native wildlife.
Fully deserving its coveted RHS Award of Garden Merit, you can be sure that this is a proven garden performer, guaranteed to be suitable for UK gardeners at every level of experience. You can therefore plant this in the garden with confidence, for stunning displays for many years to come.
