These pink sapphires display a bright pink colour, caused by the presence of chromium in the corundum. Sapphires are usually heat treated to improve the overall colour and clarity of the stone. This round faceted sapphire measures 2.75mm. Sapphire has a hardness of 9 on the Mohs scale and a specific gravity of 4.00. Please note that due to the nature of the stone, each stone is unique so colours will vary and natural inclusions and zoning may be present. Care: As with all gemstones, care must be taken. It is not advised to place sapphire stones in an ultrasonic, steam cleaner or chemical cleaning solution. Sapphire can be easily cleaned with a warm soapy water mix or an untreated cloth. It is advised to avoid exposing sapphire to prolonged periods of heat and light. A slight tolerance of +/- 0.25mm should be expected with these stones and these sapphires are sold individually.
