Thumbturn cylinders are great for regular use doors, as they provide convenient internal locking and unlocking, without the need to have keys at hand. These cylinders feature a sacrificial breakpoint, which releases the external side of the cylinder during a snap attack, leaving the cam protected, and engaging an interlocking mechanism that prevents further damage to the lock. A button on the thumbturn knob allows the lock to be operated from the inside following an attack.
