•Scrape your tongue first thing in the morning, right after you wake up.
•Stand in-front of a mirror. Open your mouth and stick out your tongue. Avoid pointing your tongue, as this reduces the surface area and reduces the effectiveness of scraping. Then, reach to the back of your tongue with the scraper and proceed to scrape outward to the tip. Be careful not to press too hard—you don’t want to cut your skin.
•Repeat this 5-10 times, reaching as far back as comfortable, rinsing the scraper after each pass to avoid re-depositing all that plaque back on your tongue.
•If the gag reflex bothers you, you can try humming to distract yourself whilst doing it; also try not to stretch your tongue too far.
•Follow tongue scraping with brushing flossing, and a large glass of water.
•Get into the habit of scraping your tongue prior to each brushing.
