Paediatrics YardCard: Vital Signs, APGAR, Signs of Respiratory Distress, Fluid Prescribing

One of the first things you notice when you start a Paediatrics placement is that all the basics are different! Babies, infants, young children and teenagers all have different ranges for their basic observations. It's hard to memorise all these ranges, so that's why we came up with this card. 

We also incorporated some other important bits into this card:

✅ APGAR score 

✅ Maintenance Fluid Prescribing (common exam question!) 

✅ Signs of respiratory distress (very important in Paediatrics) 

Developmental Milestones 

This YardCard is perfect for students with an interest in Paediatrics. 

Developmental milestones are separated into four functional areas: Gross Motor, Fine Motor, Language, and Social. These are covered up to 4 years of age. Limit ages by which the milestone should have been achieved are coloured in red on this card for some important limits e.g. walking by 18 months.
