The international match played at the Stade Pershing�in�Paris�in�late December 1933. Then in 1934,�Villeneuve-sur-lot Rugby League and former France Rugby Union international player�Jean Galia�formed a team. He�took the French team that had never played�rugby league to Yorkshire and Lancashire. The tour was a great success and the French Rugby League formed on 6 April 1934. \n
Rugby League banned in France
\nGermany invaded France in May 1940. The Vichy Government under�Philippe P�tain�associated rugby league with the pre-war�socialist government, the United�Kingdom and General�Charles de Gaulle. All funds of the Rugby League, as well as�grounds and equipment were�confiscated. The game was banned. \n \nMoreover, after the war, Paul Barri�re, along with�Marcel Laborde�worked to re-establish the rugby league.�Barri�re became vice-president of the French Rugby League on 16 September 1944 at the Hotel Regina in�Toulouse.
