Product description
Choose the substrate bundle if you already have your terrarium glass ready to go, and are after terrarium soil and drainage layers. We’ve included all the elements we use in our own in-house terrariums, packaged in sustainable, non-plastic packaging, with handy instructions for you to follow and make your own. The substrates themselves are top quality, produced by our friends at Soil Ninja and packaged by us into the perfect size for you to get going with. If you’re gifting someone glass to make a terrarium with, add our substrate kit to this so they’re ready to go as soon as the special occasion rolls around. Pair this bundle with our other DIY terrarium supplies to add plants and decoration too!
We worked out the volumes for soil, semihydro, charcoal and sand in pints, so all you need to check the size is a pint glass, your terrarium vessel and some water… hopefully, simples!
Figure out the level you want the soil in your terrarium to sit at, and pour water in up to that point. Remember to factor in plenty of space for plants, moss and decoration - they will all be sat on top of your soil!
Then, measure it into a pint glass (or multiple glasses if necessary!) and use our size chart below to work it out. If you’re between two, it might be better to go for the bigger one and that way you’ll have extra soil instead of not enough.
If you want to convert to/from metric, a pint is equal to 473ml.
This substrate bundle includes;
Drainage Layer - Semi Hydro Mix
Separation Layer - Sand
Purifying Layer - Activated Charcoal
Soil Layer - Terrarium Soil
All of our substrates are premium quality and supplied by Soil Ninja
How to measure which size bundle you require:
So we have got very technical with our measuring and we have used a handy pint glass as we have assumed most people have access to one at home. Get your vessel and pour water into the vessel up to the height in your glassware you would like the substrate to come up to. Please be ware that your plants, moss and decorative layers will sit above this. Once you are happy with the level, pour the water into a pint glass to measure which bundle would be the right amount for your vessel.
Fingers crossed we haven't made this overly confusing, please get in touch if you need further help or advice.
