Caputia tomentosa is a very rewarding succulent to grow. Each leaf feels like it is neatly coiled up with fine woolly cotton, giving it its common name of the Woolly Senecio.
The fine white cocoon-like fibres that coat the leaves act as a natural sunscreen to protect them from the hot sun. They also encourage morning dew to collect on the leaves giving the plant a lifeline to water in its natural habitat in South Africa.
