THE STORY OF OUR LEATHER
1970's The company was founded with a selection of quality leather leads and collars which were manufactured in Walsall, the historical capital of UK leather manufacture. To ensure quality and longevity, the leather hides were sourced from Europe where cattle have higher welfare standards. These hides were then cut by skilled leather craftspeople into collars and leads, sewn by heavy duty machines. In these images from the 1970's , our leather workers are cutting and stitching collars.
1990's Leather production remained unchanged for many years, throughout the 80's and 90's, as you can see from these photographs from 1993
Today Today, we still use only European hides and still have a team of skilled leatherworkers cutting, sewing, stamping and finishing collars and leads in our UK based factory. However, technology has moved on , meaning we have a scanning cutter that ensures we get the most from each and every hide for minimal waste. Despite this new technology, every collar and lead is still hand-finished by our team for ultimate quality and craftsmanship.

For a traditional 'dog collar' look the studded version is punctuated with nickel-plated studs. Each leather collar is stamped with the 'Heritage' mark that indicates Ancol's leather history and assures our customers that the collar has been made by our skilled workforce in the UK.
