Product description
Black seed blending oil has a rich composition of nutrients and antioxidants, making it a versatile oil with many health and wellbeing benefits.
The oil’s moisturising properties can benefit hair and scalp health by preventing dryness and making hair smoother and more manageable. Essential fatty acids, vitamins and minerals in black seed can help nourish and strengthen hair, making hair appear thicker and fuller. You can find black seed oil in our Rosemary Hair Oil, a pre-blended hair treatment that helps nourish and strengthen your hair whilst improving scalp health.
Packed with nutrients, antioxidants and essential fatty acids, black seed oil is widely appreciated for its skincare benefits. It can be applied directly to specific areas, mixed with a moisturiser or used on its own. An excellent natural moisturiser, it’s rich in fatty acids like linoleic acid, which can help retain moisture and support the skin’s natural barrier. The antioxidants in the oil contribute to neutralising free radicals and promoting the renewal of skin cells, enhancing overall skin tone, texture, and appearance. Black seed oil also has properties that help maintain healthy skin, reducing breakouts and supporting a clearer complexion.
Black seed oil can be used on its own or as a base for massage blends. It can be massaged into areas of joint and muscle discomfort to provide a soothing effect and is believed to provide comfort during menstrual cycles. When used in a massage, it may contribute to a sense of calm, support relaxation, and be beneficial for skin that feels irritated or inflamed.
While primarily known for its health and skincare benefits, black seed can also be used in various ways around the home. Evidence suggests that the oil’s strong aroma makes it an effective insect repellent against mosquitoes and other bugs*. Its antimicrobial properties make it suitable for adding to homemade cleaning solutions, and its scent can help neutralise odours around the home.
Top Tip: A natural decongestant, add a few drops of black seed to hot water and inhale the steam to help clear nasal congestion.
Please note: Hot water can cause burns. The utmost care should be taken when using this method and keep hot water well out of reach of children.
Black Seed oil, also known as black cumin or black caraway, is derived from the plant nigella sativa. Native to eastern Europe and western Asia, the oil has a rich history spanning thousands of years with roots in medicinal practices as well as uses in cooking. One of the earliest records of black seed oil comes from ancient Egypt, where it was found in the tomb of Pharoah Tutankhamun. The oil has also been used in Greco-Roman, Ayurvedic and traditional African medicine to treat a variety of ailments including respiratory issues, digestive issues and skin conditions.
