Product description
Growing onions from seed is very easy, a lot cheaper and also less prone to disease than growing from sets. They can be started as early as January with some heat but Spring sowings will also produce decent sized bulbs.
Robeljais a vigorous, robust, dark-red, globe-shaped onion. The flavour is fine and it stores well for a red variety.
Sow seeds in modules from Jan at a depth of 1cm(½ in).
Transplant to 10cm apart in rows 15cm apart when plants are approx. 15cm tall.
Early sowings should be made undercover and planted out under fleece until the weather warms up.
Direct sow from March-April in drills 1cm deep and 15cm apart.
No thinning is required but bulbs will grow bigger if thinned to 10cm apart..
