gets all the hair and dirt up which a hoover could not pick up.

Highly recommended. It pulled up lots of fur from a rug. Does depend on carpet pile but has worked in my standard carpet. More fur removed from the rug with a longer pile. Both carpet stair and rug have same footfall. Obviously be careful if you have loose piles.
