Most people know burdock as being one of the main ingredients in the drink, Dandelion & Burdock but Burdock Root (also known as Gobo Root) in its own right can be used in a range of drinks and food dishes.
The root comes from the burdock plant, which is grown across Asia, Europe and North America. Burdock can be used in a variety of dishes, including soups, stews and stir-fries, offering a sweet mild flavour. It is also commonly used in tea and should be ground, and 1tsp should be added with a cup of water, and simmered for 20 minutes, before straining and drinking.
