Product description

Introducing the Cornish Canned, Rod & Line Cornish Caught Bluefin Tuna, a unique product that is sure to impress. This tuna is the first time it has been caught and canned in the UK, and the first time it has been caught in Cornwall. The tuna was caught less than 25 miles from the cannery, making it a local product.
The tuna is a unique product because one of the two fish caught, weighing 56.6kg, was caught using rod & line, filleted, and canned, all by one man. The other fish, weighing 74kg, was also caught and canned. The product has two types of meat: AKIMI is the lean red meat, used by sushi masters in sashimi, and TORO is the fatty white meat also used in sashimi. Both of these types of meat have been cooked in the can for sterility and longer shelf life.
The product has four types of tuna: Skipjack & Albacore are the more common species for tinned tuna, often caught using massive nets and not as ecologically sustainable. Yellowfin & Bluefin are the less common, and therefore more expensive, with Bluefin regarded as the highest grade, often 'pole' or 'rod & line' caught, so much more ecologically sustainable, and in the UK we have just 39t quota, with the vessel these were landed on, just 3t!
The product uses 30g Cornish 'Pure Blue' Spring Water with 100g Bluefin Tuna. The product is low in fat, with 1/4 Sodium, Mercury 10.7mg compared to 29.75g, and has 24.9g Protein. The product is made with Cornish 'Pure Blue' Spring Water, which has 66 calories compared to 145, is better for Omega 3, and a little less for Selenium & Vitamin D (48.7mg/55mg).
The product may contain bones or any one of the 14 allergens, including shellfish and crustacea. The seller is meticulous with their cleaning, food preparation, and canning process, and they are fully trained on allergen issues. However, they do handle many other allergens in the ingredients, such as soybean or wheat, so customers should check individual products/cans for details.
In summary, the Cornish Canned, Rod & Line Cornish Caught Bluefin Tuna is a unique and delicious product that is sure to impress. With its unique catch and canning process, it is a local product that is sure to be a hit with tuna lovers everywhere.
